Technologies During the course of 85 years, we have developed a state-of-the-art product portfolio and have earned a reputation for delivering innovative chemical technologies that address customer needs. These technologies include a broad array of process, water treatment, and functional chemistries.
On site Professionals Hercules Paper Technologies and Ventures have the largest and most knowledgeable front-line field force in the industry. These 700+ sales representatives work side by side with mill personnel to diagnose problems and customize solutions that ensure success. Through these individuals, a customer has access to the entire spectrum of products, programs, and services available from Hercules. Our field sales force is supported by more than 100 applications engineers. Knowledgeable in chemistry, engineering, microbiology, paper science, and aquatic biology, these experts can help troubleshoot even the most challenging water, pulp, and papermaking problems. Equally important, these individuals play a key role in the rapid commercialization of new technologies developed by our research scientists. Mill Experience Annually, Hercules Paper Technologies and Ventures services more than 1,500 customer mill sites in more than 60 countries. Notably, 70% of the world paper tonnage uses Hercules' products and programs. Corporate Headquarters Hercules' corporate headquarters is located in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. Research Center Hercules conducts leading-edge research studies from a state-of-the-art facility located in Wilmington, Delaware. Customer Applications Laboratories Supporting both our field sales and applications experts are the vast resources of our regional Customer Applications Laboratories located in Wilmington, Delaware; Helsingborg, Sweden; and Shanghai, China. These facilities house extensive analytical capabilities, a variety of handsheet production options, comprehensive paper-testing resources, and innovative process testing instrumentation. Our pilot paper machine (housed in Wilmington, Delaware) is used to conduct product interaction studies and prove commercial viability without the risk of disruption to mill production. These resources enable our customer support scientists to analyze and identify customer problems rapidly, compare the impact of system additives on paper and board properties, and select the best chemistry or program to address process needs. Production Facilities Hercules has 24 production facilities strategically located near major pulp and paper producing areas of the world.
