Hercules Quality Policy

In today's global marketplace, increasingly discriminating consumers are basing decisions on one factor—value.  No wonder that one of the most powerful driving forces in worldwide enterprise today is quality.  Manufacturers are experiencing new quality awareness and raising standards of excellence, performance, and customer service for themselves and their suppliers.

Quality is not a new concept at Hercules Incorporated.  It has been fundamental to our business since we were founded in 1912.  In 1981, Hercules issued Quality Management Policy 103, which encompassed all the requirements of the current ISO 9001:2000 quality standard.  Hercules operated with this policy through the early 1990's when we began the process of certifying our production facilities to the international quality standard. Today, Hercules maintains certification to ISO 9001:2000 at all manufacturing and key support facilities around the world. (See ISO Certificate Request and Feedback.)

At Hercules, we listen to the people who make, sell, and purchase our products.  And we've learned that meeting the challenge of quality isn't something you achieve overnight.  It happens incrementally: one new product, one critical measurement, and one answered telephone call at a time.  We also acknowledge that there is no such thing as a quality "program" that has a beginning and an end.  Quality is forever.

To ensure that we are clear in our efforts, a Quality Policy has been established that guides us at every step.  Simply put, meeting customer's expectations every time is the way we define quality at Hercules.  It is short, it is all encompassing, and it drives our business.

Quality is a way of life at Hercules and our views on quality can be summarized in these basic points. 

Quality Management: To be competitive in today's world economy, quality has to be at the heart of everything we do.
Quality Must Be Measured: Current concepts like statistical process control, combined with advanced process controls and machinery, and
old fashioned motivation, education, and respect, take the mystery out of quality and make it attainable and measurable.
Quality Involves Every Employee: We are truly committed to quality
only if every single employee is participating and a believer.
Quality Partnerships Must Be Built: Quality doesn't occur in a vacuum;
a quality minded company has to develop quality partnerships upstream
and downstream. 
Quality Approach: Achieving universal quality is a gradual process.
