imPressŪ CL Surface Size Technology mPress® CL surface size agents are a new surface treatment from Hercules that radically improves the print performance of paper used in inkjet and laser printers, especially inkjet printers utilizing pigment-based inks. The patented, liquid products, which combine a synthetic surface size with a unique mordant technology, is easily applied at the mill using a simple metering system. Paper treated with the novel technology allows the end user to produce prints with exceptional image quality and definition using a variety of printing devices. The final printed image not only exhibits bolder blacks and more vivid colors but is also smear resistant. Mode of Action imPress® CL surface size agents are applied at the paper mill at the machine size press. The final paper is cut, packaged, and distributed as normal. The imPress® additive incorporated in the sheet allows the sheet to dry much faster after printing, so it is less likely to smear. Additionally, the imPress® additive interacts with black and color inks during the printing process and prevents them from penetrating too deeply, which significantly improves the optical density of the printed image. Features Key features of imPress® CL surface size includes:
Benefits Laboratory and commercial evaluations confirm that imPress® CL surface size significantly improves the printing performance of paper used in inkjet and laser printers. For the papermaker, this means the ability to produce new grades, generate new business, and command premium pricing. For the end user of the paper, the improved printing performance translates to a number of value-added benefits:
