Wilmington, DE, Oct. 20, 2005 - - The Pulp and Paper Division of Hercules Incorporated is named the exclusive supplier of specialty chemicals for Metso Paper’s STT® Technology for the manufacture of tissue.  This unique tissue manufacturing method delivers a final tissue product that gives similar performance to TAD produced tissue.

The Metso STT® process requires Yankee Coating and fabric release products that will allow uniform creping and excellent machine runnability.  Working together, Metso and Hercules developed a specific chemical package for these special conditions.  The products developed by Hercules and Metso for this application will be sold under the Metso STT® brand name.  Hercules will also work in conjunction with Metso to provide the required specialty chemical applications support for machine startups and ongoing technical service at the customer’s site.

The successful development of the STT® chemical package has been the result of close cooperation between Hercules and Metso over several years.  This approach means that customers installing STT® Technology will benefit from the joint expertise of both companies.

The key benefits of the Hercules chemical package for the Metso STT® Technology include: excellent coverage of the Yankee and control of creping, this leads to improved sheet transfer, uniform adhesion to Yankee cylinder, with no coating transfer to the carrier fabric.  All products comply with both FDA and BfR regulations and are thermally stable.
