Wilmington, DE, Mar. 7, 2003 - - The Pulp and Paper Division of Hercules Incorporated (NYSE: HPC) has announced it will increase prices for all product lines globally, effective April 1, 2003.

Prices will increase for all new and existing customers using standard and blanket purchase orders.  Wet Strength, Dry Strength, and Tissue additives will increase by 5%.  Surface sizing agents will increase by 4.5%.  AKD sizing agents will increase by 3%-8% depending on grade.  Specialty rosin sizing agents will increase by 3%.  Process chemicals will increase by 3%.  Other specialty products will increase by 6%.

A 2.5% surcharge will be applied to all purchases for customers with cost-in-use, standard cost, and fixed cost long-term agreements.

"For the last several years, the Pulp and Paper Division has diligently managed fixed and variable costs which has supported our ability to expand our product offering, optimize our on-site service, and reduce the total cost of ownership for our customers," said Brian Pahl, Vice President, Hercules Incorporated and President, Pulp and Paper Division.  "However, with the steep escalation of several critical raw material, energy, and transportation costs, it is now necessary to make these pricing changes."
